Sean Connery 007 James Bond Film Collection 4K (1962-1971) The six official entries in the adventures of Agent 007, those which starred Sean Connery, have made the 4K UHD transition in a new set. No new extras but lots of previously issued extras have been retained. The transfers, taken from new scans from the camera negative, are very impressive and miles ahead of the previously issued Blu-Rays.
Criterion:
The Wiz (1978) Sidney Lumet’s big budget adaptation of the Broadway musical adaptation of The Wizard of Oz, starring Diana Ross and Michael Jackson, makes its 4K debut this week as well. Bonus materials in the release include a new commentary and archival director interviews.
Arrow:
Swordfish (2000) Hugh Jackman is a formerly imprisoned computer hacker offered $10 million from a mysterious man (John Travolta) to do one last job in Dominic Sena’s hi-tech thriller coming to the 4K format. Extras include new interviews, featurettes and director commentary.
When Titans Ruled the Earth: Clash of the Titans and Wrath of the Titans (2010-2012) The remake of the 1981 film, starring Sam Worthington, and its sequel have been reissued together in a new 4K standard edition.
Scream/Shout Factory:
Lord of Illusions (1995) Clive Barker’s adaptation of his horror novel comes to the 4K format from the label this week as well in a new set. Previously issued extras have been retained. Also being issued are new steel book editions of The Dead Zone (1983) and Return of the Living Dead (1985).
Warner Archive:
Two multi film Blu-Ray sets have been released by the label this week. These are a Elizabeth Taylor 4 Film Collection (1950-1967), which includes Father of the Bride / The Last Time I Saw Paris / Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? / Reflections in a Golden Eye, along with a Clark Gable 4 Film Collection (1935-1939), which includes Mutiny on the Bounty / San Francisco / Wife versus Secretary / Idiot’s Delight.
Lionsgate:
Air America (1990) The action comedy starring Mel Gibson and Robert Downey Jr. gets a 4K facelift this week as well in a new edition.
