Newton, NC – Recently elected officers of American Legion Post 48 prepare to take their oath of office at a swearing-in ceremony Tuesday, June 14, at the post at 1 
American Legion Ave., Newton.
The officers are, from left, Dexter Sprouse, post commander; Zane Stilwell, first vice commander; Jerry Mask, second vice commander; Keith Covill Sr., historian; Gary Price, executive board member; John Harden, finance officer; Billy Mathews, chaplain; Danny Brittain, sergeant at arms; James Cranford, executive board member; and Stacy Boudreaux, assistant sergeant at arms. Not pictured is Bill Richard, adjutant. Leading the ceremony is Mike Donnelly, right, state commander of the American Legion.
