Hickory – ACAP Hickory (Adult Children of Aging Parents) presents “Planning for Facility Care While Preserving Assets for Your Family Under Medicaid & Special Assistance” on Tuesday, November 13, 5:30-7pm. Location for the program is the Fellowship Hall of Mt Olive Lutheran Church, 2780 North Center Street, Hickory. Speaker for the program is Kim Whitley, JD, Managing Partner, Patrick Harper & Dixon.
Get the facts! The cost of eldercare and assisted living can be costly and can vary as much as 50% across NC. Due to the increased need for supervision of elders with dementia (Alzheimer’s, etc.), the monthly cost can go up by as much as $1,070 per month or more–and that’s in addition to the base cost of eldercare. Within our aging population, for every one American man over the age of 85, there are two American women of that age. Families do not need to be blindsided with the costs of facility care and preserving assets. Join Kim Whitley on November 13 as she discusses strategies in: learning the difference between the programs that pay for Assisted Living facilities versus Nursing Homes; understanding the correct way to transfer assets within Medicaid rules and to maintain protection for the transferring parent; navigating the sanction periods associated with transfers and explore the numerous options for Medicaid crisis planning.
ACAP Hickory gratefully acknowledges Kit Cannon with HF Financial and AJ Kerley from Pace@Home as sponsors for the November program.
