Hickory – Learn about schizophrenia with the VayaHealth Geriatric and Adult Mental Health Team at Patrick Beaver Memorial Library on December 17, from 10 am to 12pm. The Vaya professionals provide free training opportunities with contact hours provided through the N.C. Division of Health Service Regulation (DHSR). This training on schizophrenia is the last session of our fall programs.
Schizophrenia is a severe, chronic mental health disorder that affects how a person behaves, thinks and feels. Sometimes people with schizophrenia may seem like they are out of touch with reality. Schizophrenia is not as common as other psychotic disorders, and the symptoms can be very difficult to treat. Symptoms may include hallucinations, reduced feelings of pleasure in daily life, and trouble focusing or paying attention.
The training on schizophrenia is open to the public, but space is limited and registration is required. Contact hours are available on the day of the program.
Patrick Beaver Memorial Library is located t 375 3rd St. NE on the SALT Block. Library hours are 9am to 9pm. Monday through Thursday and 9am to 5pm. Friday and Saturday.
