Hickory – Bright Star Theatre, a national professional touring theater company, is bringing Let Freedom Ring: Music and Poetry of Black History to Ridgeview Library on Monday, January 22, 2017 at 5:00pm. This performance is free and open to everyone.
Bright Star Theatre will take audience members on a journey through African American History and Culture. Follow the journey from Africa through slavery to the Civil Rights Movement and the powerful voices of today’s leaders. Hear the powerful voices of Frederick Douglass, Sojourner Truth, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Maya Angelou and more. Each audience member will walk away with a better understanding of historical events by hearing the speeches, songs and poetry of these powerful Americans.
