Hickory – The City of Hickory’s Sails Original Music Series will conclude for the year with Jacoozy this Friday, Sept. 27. The free concert begins at 7 p.m. on Union Square in downtown Hickory.
Captivating, dynamic, and high energy. Jacoozy is a five-piece band that blends rock, funk, R&B, and alternative to create a unique and fresh sound.
Formed in Boone during the summer of 2021, Jacoozy features guitarists Killian Wright and Will Fentress, drummer Pauly Scott, keyboardist Isaac McMurry, and bassist Will Henshaw. A group of proficient musicians with dynamic improvisation and captivating live shows, Jacoozy’s core following has quickly spread across the Carolinas and the greater Southeast.
The group’s most successful track “Cold Hearted” from their 2022 self-titled EP has reached over half a million streams and resides on countless playlists alongside the album’s counterparts.
“Their social media says they are ‘5 Heady gentlemen from NC’ playing high energy, improvisational, and groovy music. They are from the Boone area, but are gathering traction and a following around the South,” says Bob Sinclair, coordinator for the Sails Original Music Series.
In addition to the seating available at Union Square, audience members are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets. A variety of close-by bars and restaurants offer food and beverages.
ABC permitted businesses within the Hickory Downtown Social District will sell beer, wine, and other alcoholic beverages in specially marked cups that may be consumed on Union Square, sidewalks, and other public areas within the designated boundaries of the social district. No outside alcohol may be brought into the social district.
