Hickory – The City of Hickory’s Sails Original Music Series, presented by Protection Products, Inc., will showcase authentic, sand-blasted roots-rock music from Dangermuffin this week. The free concert begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 6, at Union Square in downtown Hickory.

Known as dynamic storytellers, Dangermuffin is a Carolina-based band that weaves lyrical themes of sea, sun, and spiritual connection with Americana, folk, jam, and island-influenced grooves. Casting images that are timeless yet novel, the band blends mindful lyrics with contemplative sounds, creating songs aimed at reinvigorating the soul.

Dangermuffin brings together Dan Lotti (vocals, guitar, Godin bass), Mike Sivilli (guitar, vocals), Steven Sandifer (drums, upright bass, vocals), and Andrew Hendryx (mandolin). Having played festival stages and concert halls across the U.S. and beyond, this seasoned outfit continues to share its music through live shows as well as online, where their streaming numbers have recently garnered exponential growth. The band’s far-reaching catalog is ripe with engaging, singable tracks that ask to be played on repeat.

“This quartet weaves coastal influenced lyrics and feel with southern jam band power. You’ll want to be here if you wanna rock,” says Sails Music Coordinator Bob Sinclair.

Started in 2012, the City of Hickory’s Sails Original Music Series showcases well-crafted, live music by bringing original music artists to The Sails on the Square. Original music is defined as music that is written or composed by the artist who performs it.
