Hickory – A Place to Talk has envisioned a community of tiny houses on its property for some time. The long-range goal is to provide housing for people who are homeless or who might not otherwise be able afford it.
On Saturday, September 15, the church will host Serve All Souls, a fundraiser to raise funds in order to launch the first phase of their tiny house vision, building showers for an existing modular that will eventually provide transitional housing.
The church made strides in helping the less fortunate a little over a year ago when it established a small exterior food pantry available for anyone in need.
The Serve All Souls event will include live music, a silent auction, games, a movie, food, a bake sale and free activities for children. Two of the many items being auctioned off include a grill and a large cooler.
The event will start at 12 pm and will run until 6:30 pm with the auction drawing being announced at the end of the event. A Place To Talk, is located at 1546 Brookford Church Rd, Hickory, NC 28602. For more specifics contact Bobbi Claridge, (828) 324-8872 or visit www.aplacetotalk.net/
