Sherrills Ford, NC – In keeping with Lions Club International’s motto, “We Serve,” throughout the month of February, the Sherrills Ford Lions Club are collecting schools supplies for Sherrills Ford Elementary School in strategically placed boxes at the following local businesses, dentist office, restaurants, and veterinarian offices as follows:

During a recent meeting, Sarah Bratton, President of the Sherrillls Ford Lions Club, the idea to collect schools supplies for Sherrills Ford Elementary School was unanimously approved. “We have been looking for new opportunities to partnership with our local elementary school, get more involved in the community, new ways to recruit more members, and exploring additional possibilities to benefit our service area and its people,” emphasized Lion Bratton. “Our goal is to help as many students as possible. Your donated school supplies will make a difference in the lives of these students , and help them to successful in schools,” reiterated Lion Bratton.
A partial list of school supplies needed include Book Bags ( No wheels), Box of crayons (24 count), Box of Colored Pencils (12 pack), Composition notebooks ( Red 3 subject notebook, Blue 1 subject notebook, Green 1 subject notebook), black/white marbled composition wide rule notebook (100 sheets), Colorful Construction Paper (Large and Small), Erasers (Large Pink Block and Pack of Pencil Top), Expo Dry Erasers ( 4 Pack), FISKAR blunt-tip kids scissors, Headphones for Chromebooks ( No ear buds), Kindergarten Writing Paper, Number #2 Pencils ( NO MECHANICAL PENCILS), Packs of Notebook Paper ( wide rule and college rule), Plastic Pencil Box/ Zipper Pencil Pouch, Plastic Folders with 3 hole prong ( Red and Blue), Pocket Folders ( with and without prongs), and Rulers ( with inches and centimeters). Some miscellaneous items needed in the classroom include Band-Aids, Baby Wipes/ Disinfectant Wipes, Color Copy Paper/Color Cardstock, Hand Sanitizer, Hand Held Pencil Sharpeners, Kleenex Tissue, Origami Paper, Post It Notes, Seasonal and Sports Themed Stickers, and Zip Locked Bags ( gallon/quart/ sandwich size). Who are the Sherrills Ford Lions?
The Sherrills Ford Lions, an active Lions Club in District 31-L, consist of service oriented ladies and me. Some their service projects include collecting food, clothing, and personal items for local food pantries, supporting the Lakewood Nursing Home, Rosenwald School for trouble teens, Camp Dogwood, collecting school supplies, quarterly debris pickup along Sherrills Ford Road in conjunctions with Department of Transportation’s Adopt A Highway. . During the holiday season, needy families have enjoyed Thanksgiving turkey dinners compliments of their club, purchased and donated items to Angel Tree to make their Christmas brighter. Members have sponsored baby showers for a local pregnancy crisis center, and community food drives, collect necessities for shelter animals.
