Valdese FFN Is Back, Beginning May 28, With The Cat 5 Band

Valdese, NC – The Town of Valdese is happy to announce the season lineup for the Family Friday Nights Summer Concert Series!

The summer concert series in Valdese will begin on May 28th with a special season kickoff featuring the Cat5 Band! “We are so excited to be returning for the summer season after a very quiet 2020.” states Morrissa Angi, Community Affairs Director for the Town of Valdese. This season will bring back local favorites and will also debut several new talents. We also want to assure the community all COVID-19 safety guidelines will be in practice as we begin to celebrate summer.

On Monday, May 3rd, Valdese Town Council made the unanimous decision, to move the concert series to a larger venue in effort to accommodate crowd restrictions and social distancing best practices with COVID-19. As a result, it was determined that the concert series be moved to the field located behind the Old Rock School for scheduled concerts held May 28 through June 25th. This will not affect the annual Independence Day Celebration or Waldensian Festival. “This change in venue is more than three times the size of the parking area near the former Wells Fargo building. The new, temporary location will give attendees the ability to spread out and enjoy live music. We strongly encourage attendees to make dinner plans and stroll Main Street for downtown shopping while attending the concerts,” Angi continues. The annual Independence Day Celebration offers a natural break in the season and the remaining Friday night concerts will be held at the former location in the town parking lot.

Kicking off the summer series this year will be a night full of beach music with Cat5 Band! The celebration will be held on Friday, May 28th at 7:00pm. Cat5 Band is a group of professional musicians that have come together with a common purpose to provide the best music possible to audiences all over the world.

Cammy Award winning artist Jerry Thomas West, Vocalist, Guitarist for 24 years with the Band of Oz and the 80s Rock Band SugarCreek will be contributing his amazing vocals best known for his hits “Somewhere Over The RainBow” and “Build Me Up” Jerry Has Won Multiple Cammy Awards including “Vocalist of the Year” and “Instrumentalist of the Year”.
