Hickory, NC – A Perfect Fifth, the 55th season of the Western Piedmont Symphony continues with Masterworks 4: Southern Sounds.
With Maestro Matthew Troy as Music Director and Conductor, the program includes some eclectic selections. The evening will include Rusty Air in Carolina by contemporary composer, DJ and Brevard College alumni Mason Bates. Florence Price, the first African-American woman to be recognized as a symphonic composer, is featured next with her tone poem, The Oak. Guest artist and Lenoir-Rhyne University graduate, Chelsie Propst, Soprano, will amaze the audience on Samuel Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915. The program concludes with Brahms’ Symphony No. 2 in D major.
Masterworks 4: Southern Sounds, will be held March 7, 2020 at 7:30 P.M. at P.E. Monroe Auditorium on the campus of Lenoir-Rhyne University. Tickets range from $5 to $42. Students of Lenoir-Rhyne University, Catawba Valley Community College and Western Piedmont Community College are admitted for free with valid ID. Tickets for teachers are $10 with valid ID.
