Our Guest Speaker and author is Miriam Renee Adderholdt, Ph.D.
Dr. Adderholdt is a summa cum laude graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, N.C. Miriam will be sharing from her book “Perfectionism vs. The Pursuit of Excellence.” Copies will be available to be purchased and signed by the author.
She majored in Intermediate Education with concentrations in mathematics education, social studies education, and language arts education. After graduation from LRU, she studied special education of the hearing impaired and began her M.Ed. Degree in special education of the gifted and talented at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
Miriam started her first full-time teaching position in gifted education in Catoosa County Georgia. After completing her M.Ed. Degree, Miriam moved to Taylorsville, NC to become a resource teacher of the gifted and talented, grades 2-9. From there, Miriam pursued a doctorate in educational psychology with concentrations in gifted education research methods and psychology with concentrations in gifted education, research methods and creativity. Miriam has taught at several universities, community colleges, and several public school systems.
Miriam has served on the boards of NCAGT/PAGE and the Green River Preserve for the gifted and talented. She has published a variety of journal articles on the topic of perfectionism and her most recent book sold more than 93,000 copies. Miriam currently resides in North Carolina with her family.
