Newton, NC – The Newton Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce that the Newton Swimming Pool opened on Monday, June 11.
Public swimming will be available Monday through Saturday from 1pm to 6pm and Thursday evenings from 6pm to 8pm. Admission is $1 for children age 5 and younger, $3 for children age 6-17, $4 for adults age 18-61, and $2 for adults age 62 and older.
Lap swimming will be available Monday through Friday from 12pm to 1pm for adults 18 and older. Lap swimming admission is $1.
Children age 12 and younger must be accompanied by a paying adult. Children age 3 and younger must wear a flotation device. No diapers will be allowed. Infants must wear plastic undergarments.
Daycares, summer camps, school classes, clubs, and other groups are welcome to the pool for $3 per child, with a minimum of 12 children. Group reservations are required by contacting the Newton Recreation Center at 828-695-4317. Group swimming begins at 10am.
No alcoholic beverages are allowed at the pool.
The annual July 4th Splash Blast will be held Wednesday, July 4, from 1pm to 5pm at the Newton Swimming Pool. The celebration will include pool games, karaoke, ice cream, and family fun for all ages.
The pool is available to rent for private use on Saturdays from 6pm to 8pm and on Sundays from 1pm to 6pm. Rentals must be made in two-hour increments. Pool rental is $75 per hour for Newton residents and $125 per hour for nonresidents. In addition, renters must pay for the required two to four lifeguards at $10 per lifeguard per hour.
Frequent swimmers can save money by purchasing a punch pass. For children age 6-17, 15 passes are $30 and 25 passes are $50. For adults age 18-61, 15 passes are $50 and 25 passes are $75. For adults age 62 and older, 15 passes are $25 and 25 passes are $40.
