CVCC Host Surviving Mother Of Opiate Overdose Victim; Part Of Interdisciplinary Read Series On “Dreamland”

Hickory – Catawba Valley Community College’s Interdisciplinary Read Committee will host an October 17 presentation at noon in the college’s East Wing Auditorium by Debbie Dalton, the mother of former Cornelius, N.C., resident Hunter Dalton, who died at age 23 from a recreational drug overdose.

The presentation is part of CVCC’s year-long examination of “Dreamland” by Sam Quinones, which documents America’s opiate epidemic.

Growing up, Hunter Dalton was active in a number of sports and had a genuine zest for life. Shortly after graduating from college, Hunter died of an overdose caused by a highly potent synthetic opioid, called fentanyl.

Debbie Dalton founded the Hunter Dalton #HDLife Foundation to share her family’s tragic story in hopes of educating others regarding the dangers of recreational drug use. For more information, visit www.thehunterdaltonhdlifefoundation.com.
