Author Of The Faces Of Poverty In North Carolina, At LRU, April 2

Hickory – Lenoir-Rhyne University’s Lineberger Center for Cultural and Educational Renewal will host Gene R. Nichol, author of “The Faces of Poverty in North Carolina,” Tuesday, April 2, at 7 p.m. in Belk Centrum.

Since 2012, Nichol has traveled across the state of North Carolina, conducting hundreds of interviews with poor people and those working to alleviate the worst of their circumstances. Nichol will discuss the searing firsthand accounts from North Carolina’s impoverished citizens which he writes about in his book. He will also discuss the preface of “The Faces of Poverty in North Carolina” which focuses on the City of Hickory and its estimated 250 homeless citizens.

Nichol is the Boyd Tinsley distinguished professor of law at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
