Hickory – The Catawba Science Center is excited partner with the NC Fossil Club to host the North Carolina Fossil Fair on Saturday, November 4, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This family friendly event will provide a unique opportunity for visitors to delve into the fascinating world of paleontology and discover prehistoric treasures through the collections of NC Fossil Club members. Paleontology and fossil experts from the Smithsonian, NC Museum of Natural Sciences, Aurora Fossil Museum, Schiele Museum of Natural History, and higher education systems including UNC Wilmington and Appalachian State University will engage with fossil enthusiasts of all ages. ASU’s “Geobago,” the Department of Geological and Environmental Sciences mobile classroom and a few of Catawba Science Center’s animatronic dinosaurs will also make an appearance. Visitors can dig for fossils to take home and participate in a FREE raffle to win a real megalodon tooth.
“We are thrilled to host the NC Fossil Fair for the first time at the Catawba Science Center,” said Tracy Hall, CSC executive director. “This event is an incredible opportunity for people of all ages to engage with the wonders of the prehistoric world. We look forward to partnering with the NC Fossil Club to bring a wide range of fossil specialists to our community.”
The NC Fossil Fair is included with CSC admission and free for CSC members. The NC Fossil Fair promises an immersive and educational experience, offering a range of exciting activities and displays. Catawba Science Center invites families, students and people of all ages for a day of discovery and fun!
