Newton, NC – The Green Room Community Theatre is pleased to announce the dates for its 25th annual Summer Shakespeare Theatre Institute. This unique experience is a week-long theatre day camp in which students in Kindergarten through 12th grade explore the exciting world of William Shakespeare and his times. Then they participate in a production of one of his plays! Using Shakespeare as a guide, participants learn more about acting, auditioning skills, costumes, scenery, how to memorize, mask making, lights, make-up, becoming a character on the stage, and working as an ensemble. These are key elements to becoming a better performer (and it can help with English classes, too).
This summer you are invited to experience one of Shakespeare’s most famous plays, “Twelfth Night” which will be set in A Cuckoo Cartoon. This year camp will be July 15-19, 2024. The camp will run Monday – Thursday from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm for Grades 3-12. Grades K-2 will be a 1/2 day camp from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm. On Friday, the camp will run from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm with a performance presented for friends and family at 5:00 pm.
The $50 deposit is non-refundable. To receive the Early Bird Discount, you must pay the remainder by May 15, 2024. Your final payment is due June 30, 2024.
