New to Streaming:

 

We Live in Time (***) Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh are a couple who are faced with some serious life decisions when the latter has a recurrence of cancer.  The two leads are terrific and the film is filled with many winning and truthful moments that place it a notch above films of a similar nature.

New to Disc:

 

Paramount:

The Oscar winning and groundbreaking, Pulp Fiction (1994), has been reissued in 4K just in time for its 30th anniversary. It’s the same transfer as the steelbook from last year but includes new packaging along with stickers, pop up slipcover and lobby cards.

The cult sci fi comedy, Galaxy Quest (1999), also makes its 4K UHD leap this week with a terrific new transfer. Extras include archival bonus material along with a new director interview.

 Interstellar (2014) celebrates its 10th anniversary as well with a limited new deluxe 4K release housed in a box that includes new poster reproductions, costume patch reproductions and a never-before-seen storyboard sequence.

 

Severin Films:

 Hard Wood: The Adult Features of Ed Wood (1963-1972) is a new set that features the latter-day output of the man known as one of the worst directors in the history of film. Films included are Necromania, The Young Marrieds and The Only House in Town. Extras include a bonus film and commentaries.

 Scala! (2023) is a terrific documentary on a legendary repertory cinema based in London and features many high-profile interviews by celeb fans along with staff interviews. The set also includes 13 hours of bonus materials such as rare short films.

 

Arrow:

Guillermo Del Toro’s haunted house opus, Crimson Peak (2015), has been given a 4K upgrade along with the Blu Ray release of The Last Video Store (2023), a romance set amongst the backdrop of VHS tapes and those who staffed the stores that rented them in a bygone era. There are copious extras on both releases.

 Shawscope Volume 3 (1967-1983) is yet another collection of films from the legendary Hong Kong studio that contains bountiful amounts of bonus material. Films included on this set are the 14 Amazons, The Magic Blade, Clans of Intrigue, Jade Tiger and The Sentimental Swordsman.

Also getting a 4K upgrade is Abel Ferrara’s take on the vampire genre starring Christopher Walken, The Addiction. The release includes interviews and a commentary.

 

Kino:

Rambling Rose (1991) Laura Dern is the title character who changes all of those in her orbit when she moves in with a southern family. The first time ever Blu Ray release includes alternate endings, commentaries and filmmaker interview.

Daytime Revolution (2024) is a terrific new documentary covering the week that John Lennon and Yoko Ono spent as co hosts of the Mike Douglas TV show in 1972. Extras include uncut musical performances.

 

Criterion:

The Oscar winning, No Country for Old Men (2007) makes its 4K UHD entry this week with a superb new transfer and bonus materials such as new and archival documentaries and interviews.

Also new to 4K this week from the label are the classic films, Paris, Texas (1984) and

 8 ½ (1963). Both releases also contain ample amounts of bonus material.

 

MVD Visual:

The direct to video actioner starring Dolph Lundgren, directed by Perry Lang and co-written by John Sayles, Men of War (1994), makes its Blu Ray debut and contains such bonus material as featurettes and a photo gallery.

 Abruptio (2023) A man who hates his life experiences a change when he discovers a mysterious incision on his neck in this thriller. Extras include interviews and commentary.

 

Troma:

 Toxic Crusaders: The Series (1991) The Saturday morning cartoon spinoff from The Toxic Avenger films comes to Blu Ray in this set which also includes original promos and a documentary.

 

Scream Factory:

 Silent Night Deadly Night (1984) The classic holiday horror film comes to 4K for the first time and is accompanied by a few new extras along with those previously issued.
