Hickory – Standup to Hunger, a family-friendly variety show, is coming to the Drendel Auditorium in Hickory on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 6 PM. The event will feature a wide array of local talent and raise vital funds to support The Corner Table’s Backpack Program, which helps provide meals for children in need.
We’re calling on performers of all types—singers, dancers, comedians, magicians, musicians, and more—to participate in this exciting event. The competition is open to all ages, with categories for individuals and groups, making it the perfect opportunity for aspiring artists of all kinds to showcase their talents.
Audition Information
If you have a talent you’d like to share, auditions will take place at The Connor Life Center at First United Methodist Church in Conover on the following dates:
Sunday, February 23 from 2:30-4:30 PM
Tuesday, February 25 from 5:30-7:30 PM
Thursday, February 27 from 5:30-7:30 PM

Age Categories:
Category 1: 12 years and younger
Category 2: 13 years to 18 years
Category 3: 19 years and older
Category 4: Groups & Duets (no age category)
Prizes & Voting
Each category will have a $250 cash prize for the winner, selected by a panel of judges. Additionally, a Grand Prize Winner will be chosen by the audience, also receiving a $250 cash prize.
Ticket Sales & Sponsorships
Tickets for the event will go on sale April 1, 2025. Community members and businesses are also encouraged to become sponsors of this wonderful cause. Sponsorship opportunities are available to help ensure the success of this event and the continued success of the Backpack Program.

ABOUT THE CORNER TABLE
The Corner Table is a non-profit organization in Catawba County, providing meals and resources to individuals and families experiencing hunger. Their programs include a Community Kitchen, frozen meal distribution, and the Backpack Program for students. The organization is dedicated to serving the community with compassion, respect, and dignity.
