Hickory – The Hickory Community Theatre has announced a wonderful slate of shows and special events for their 77th season.
In the Jeffers Theatre, the season begins with Hairspray, the high-energy musical that celebrates big dreams and bold hairdos in 1960s Baltimore. Next comes the spine-chilling stage thriller The Woman in Black, followed by the holiday favorite Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, brought to life as a charming musical. The New Year brings Be More Chill, a techno-infused teen comedy with a twist. Spring arrives with the hard-hitting wrestling satire The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity. The Jeffers season concludes with Into the Woods, Stephen Sondheim’s beloved musical that reimagines classic fairy tales in a darkly whimsical world.
Down in the Firemen’s Kitchen, the lineup opens with the darkly comic crime drama Hangmen, then veers into absurdist territory with The Trail to Oregon!, a wild musical parody inspired by the classic computer game. The Kitchen season closes with MacBitches—a sharp, provocative exploration of female competition and ambition within an academic theatre department.
