Hickory – After two weeks of winter weather that kept much of the region homebound, Hickory Community Theatre is ready to turn cabin fever into curtain calls as Be More Chill returns for its final weekend of performances. While snow and ice disrupted most scheduled shows, the production has only been able to perform twice so far—making this weekend a rare and much-anticipated chance for audiences to finally experience the buzzed-about musical live.

Be More Chill is a fast-paced, contemporary musical comedy that blends sci-fi, pop-rock, and teenage anxiety into a sharp, funny, and surprisingly heartfelt story. When an ordinary high-school student is offered a pill-sized supercomputer that promises popularity and confidence, the results are both hilarious and haunting. With infectious music, bold performances, and a story that speaks directly to modern pressures, the show is a high-energy crowd-pleaser with a thoughtful edge.

Evening performances are Thursday through Saturday, Feb 5-7. The final performance is a Sunday matinee at 2:30pm. Tickets are $18 for adults and $12 for students and youth 18 and under. The show is rated for ages 13+. Visit hickorytheatre.org or call 828-328-2283 for tickets.

Hickory Community Theatre is a funded affiliate of Arts Culture Catawba and receives sustaining support from the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources. Season 77 support is provided by the City of Hickory, A Cleaner World, Shurtape Technologies, Acuña & Acuña Dentistry, and BelleAge.
