Burnsville, NC – The Burnsville Wedding Expo welcomes local WNC brides and those planning destination weddings to meet the area’s talented vendors on Saturday, Feb. 15. Now in its fifth year, the expo has become a go-to resource for all things big and small to design the day of your dreams.
A new dress retailer, Meadowbrooke Bridal, in downtown Weaverville hosts this year’s fashion show with the latest styles from several designers.
Forty vendors will be on hand at Burnsville Town Center to display their services. From big-picture decisions, such as venues, dresses, planners, caterers and photographers, to personal details, including hair-and-makeup, florists, stationers, musicians, cake bakers, jewelers and transportation companies, the expo covers all aspects of the wedding day and planning process.
“The expo not only helps brides find what they need, but it also offers lots of ideas that maybe they haven’t thought of,” says Amelia Hoilman, event organizer and local caterer. “There are so many little details when it comes to a wedding that it’s hard to think of them all, so it’s helpful to just walk through and look.”
A favorite expo tradition — hiding a wedding band from Banks Jewelers inside a tiered cake — returns this year. Twelve brides will dig through the cake to uncover the ring. The lucky participant who finds it gets to keep it.
Yancey County has gained popularity as a wedding destination thanks to its natural beauty and abundant activities. As many weddings have become multiday celebrations, the Burnsville area is an ideal place to entertain out-of-town guests.
“The wedding industry has really grown in the area, especially with more venues opening to host weddings,” Hoilman says. “And more vendors have gotten into the industry, too. There are so many creative people out there.”
Hours for the Burnsville Wedding Expo are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is $5.
