Hickory – Full Circle Arts is inviting artists to enter a photography exhibition & competition open to all visual artists in the area using photographic media.  It is called “My Personal Inspiration,” August 1-31.  Dates to deliver art entries are July 19 and 20.  Ribbons will be awarded.

Judges for the competition are Sally Fanjoy and James Labrenz, visual and conceptual artists who collaborate in art and life.  Sally studied at the International Center for Photography NYC and James is a self-taught photographer and artist.

The couple have lived and created in Hickory, NC, for many years.

FanjoyLabrenz were lead artists in a project with the Hickory Museum of Art and Corning Optical Solutions -Seeing Light, How Creativity Happens? in 2019, incorporating film, projection, glass, and sound. The result of this project was published in the Yearbook of the Moving Image. Augmented Images: Trilogy of Synthetic Realities II. (Büchner press 2022).  Most recently they were selected for ArtFields 2024, 2023 North Carolina Artists Exhibit, the Charlotte ArtPop Class of 2023, and the Cain Center for the Arts group exhibits 2023 and 2024. Their project Light in Space was granted an Artist Support Grant from the United Arts Council of Catawba County for 2023.
