Hickory – Saturday, September 16, is the 8th annual Catawba Valley Pride festival! Come join the fun, food and community and the World’s Shortest Pride Parade at 1pm!
Catawba Valley Pride affirms the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual, transgender, two-spirited people, and their supporters in the Catawba Valley region of North Carolina. Pride Day will take place on the SALT Block in Hickory, from 11am to 3pm.
During Pride Week, on Thursday, September 14, An Act Of Love will screen at Lenoir Rhyne University in Room 149 at 6pm. An Act of Love is an amazing documentary about Rev. Frank Schaefer and the division in the United Methodist Church over LGBTQ inclusion. LRU is at 625 7th Ave NE, Hickory.
On Friday, September 22, from 6pm to 10pm, there’s Not Your Mama’s Bingo with Broads on Broadway- come see the world famous Miss Queenie Gabor and the BVD cast in Broadway skits like you’ve never seen!
If you’ve never experienced Not Your Mama’s Bingo… well, you’ve never experienced Not Your Mama’s Bingo! What are you waiting for?! It the most fun you can have on a Friday night for $25! Sponsored by ALFA, AIDS Leadership Foothills Alliance.
Not Your Mama’s BINGO is not your traditional game of bingo. Queenie Gabor, star and host of Not Your Mama’s BINGO states, “Consider yourself warned people; be on time, pay attention to me and follow the fun set of rules we have developed for you. If you don’t listen you will find yourself called out and on-stage before you know it. This is my game, my stage and my rules…. but it’s all in fun and for a great cause.” No alcohol allowed by NC state law. Suggested age for NYMB is 16 and up; it’s an adult event.
Tickets to Not Your Mama’s Bingo are $25 and include: admission, game sheets and use of daubers. A special 50/50 game sheet is an additional $5 and is the only game played for money. All other game winners will receive prizes. For tickets, go to g.
