Hickory – The City of Hickory Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism Department is partnering with Lenoir-Rhyne University (LRU) to present the Hickory Summer Track Series again this year.

Track and field events will be held Thursdays, June 4-25, from 6-9 p.m. at the Lenoir-Rhyne University outdoor track.

Participants will earn points throughout the series while competing in various events. Those who participate in events on at least two separate dates are eligible for Age Group and Series Awards.

Track and field events throughout the series include: 1 mile, 100m, 400m, 4X100m, 800m, 200m, 2 miles, long jump, triple jump, shot put, high jump, pole vault, and discus.

Divisions will be offered by age: 5 and under, 6-10, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+.

Participants can register online for the entire series or individual nights at runsignup.com/Race/NC/Hickory/HickorySummerTrackSeries. The cost to participate is $10 per night or $30 for the entire series, plus online service fees. Online registration ends at 11 a.m. on the day of each event. In-person registration will be available from 5-6:30 p.m. each night of the series with a price increase of $5.

The LRU outdoor track is located at 625 Seventh Avenue Place NE in Hickory.
