Going to preview the quarterfinals this week. Here we go.
Cotton Bowl – Ohio State vs. Miami
Ohio State will be attempting to defend its title from last year. The Buckeyes are coming off a loss to top-ranked Indiana. They won the National Championship last season after losing to hated rival Michigan. I think they will do the same here. Though the nickname edge has to go to Miami. Buckeyes don’t do well in Hurricanes.
Orange Bowl – Texas Tech vs. Oregon
Oregon has been knocking on the door for quite some time now. The Ducks are due to win it all. Meanwhile, Texas Tech is a new face to the playoffs. The Red Raiders have the defense to slow the Ducks down. I see this as a tossup so I will go with the nicknames. A duck had little chance against a Raider.
Rose Bowl – Indiana vs. Alabama
Who would have thought we would see Indiana contending for a National Title in football? Basketball maybe. Yet, here I am picking the Hoosiers. As far as nicknames go, I am not sure who would emerge in a battle between a Hoosier and a Crimson Tide.
Sugar Bow – Georgia vs. Ole Miss
I think the Bulldogs or Indiana Wii capture the title so I guess I am taking Georgia. Mississippi losing its head coach didn’t help them any though they looked good in first round action. Nicknames are no help as I am sure some Bulldogs got some Rebels and some Rebels got some Bulldogs.
