Hickory – Catawba Valley Community College’s Redhawk Publishing is creating a documentary and companion book about the Untouchables, the famous undefeated Ridgeview High School 1964 Panthers football team. Documentarian and history professor Richard Eller and faculty member Robert Canipe are asking members of the community to share pictures, films, scrapbooks, and personal memorabilia to help them tell the story.
The team is looking for:
Original newspaper stories and clippings
Original photographs of the team and players
Film of the team in action or at rest
Artifacts like helmets, jerseys, cleats, footballs, cheerleading and band material
All material will be scanned, photographed and returned the same day. Canipe and Eller are searching for members of the 1964 team as well as those who played against the team that season. They are interested in talking with those who attended games, members of the band or cheerleading squad.
