Hickory – The Hickory Community Theatre is holding auditions for the Motown musical Dreamgirls on Monday and Tuesday, July 16 and 17 at 7pm at the Theatre (30 3rd St NW), and Saturday, July 21, at 2:30pm, at the Ridgeview Recreation Center (700 1st St SW).
Those auditioning are asked to come with a song prepared, preferably in a genre similar to the show. Accompaniment is provided if you bring sheet music but pre-recorded tracks are not accepted. Actors should come in comfortable clothing and shoes that will be easy to move in for the dance portion of the auditions.
Loosely based on the story of the Supremes, this show features a predominately African-American cast. Roles are available for up to 15-20 men and women, ages 18 and up.
Performances are September 7-23, Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, Thursdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2:30pm. Rehearsals are in the evenings, beginning Monday, July 23.
Perusal scripts are available for a 24 hour loan from the Theatre with a $10 refundable deposit. Visit the Theatre Mon-Fri between 11am and 5pm to pick one up.
