Hickory – Full Circle Arts is announcing the opening of their new exhibition “Abstractions” on Thursday, July 25, 2019 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. For Full Circle Arts this is a departure from our usual competitions in that we have never offered a show with a totally non-representational art theme.
Artists from around the area have presented a tremendous variety of abstract and non-objective artwork which will excite the mind and appreciation of all the public viewers who attend the show. Abstract art can express emotions, make alterations in the perception of the natural world and create expressions of reality in different forms.
“Abstract artists look at the natural world around them, and instead of trying to duplicate exactly what they see, draw out different aspects and rearrange them to create a whole new image.”
The judge for our exhibition is Mark Poteat, Coordinator for Visual Arts at Western Piedmont Community College, who has done an amazing job choosing the prizes and awards. Full Circle Arts also provides the opportunity for visitors to choose their own favorite by voting the People’s Choice Award presented at the end of the show for the artwork which personally speaks to them.
While attending the exhibition of abstract art, visitors may also appreciate a special exhibition of the work of our three new Exhibiting Members, Rose Mary Cheek, Hannah Grace and Ernest Sills showing in the brick gallery.
Refreshments for our reception are provided by the members of Full Circle Arts, who work diligently to provide a pleasant experience for all who attend.
