Hickory – The Hickory Community Theatre (HCT) is bringing the extremely popular musical Be More Chill, to the Jeffers Theatre January 23 to Feb 7. The show was created by Joe Iconis (Music & Lyrics), Joe Tracz (Book), adapted from Ned Vizzini’s novel of the same name.
Be More Chill is a musical about average teen Jeremy Heere who takes a supercomputer pill called a “Squip” to become popular, navigate high school, win his crush Christine, and survive teenage life. However, Jeremy learns being “chill” and authentic comes at a cost, blending sci-fi, social commentary, and catchy pop-rock music in a story of identity, friendship, and fitting in.
Performances of Be More Chill will be on Fridays and Saturdays, January 23 to February 7 at 7:30pm, Sundays January 25 and 30 at 2:30pm, and Thursday, February 5 at 7:30pm. This production contains mature content and is rated 13+.
Tickets are $18 for adults and $12 for students and youth 18 & under. Be More Chill is rated 13+ and contains moderate adult language and references to substance abuse. Tickets are available online at hickorytheatre.org or by calling 828-328-2283.
Hickory Community Theatre is a funded affiliate of Arts Culture Catawba and receives sustaining support from the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.
