Hickory – The popular computer game “The Oregon Trail” comes to life with The Trail to Oregon, coming to the Firemen’s Kitchen at Hickory Community Theatre, March 6-21. This musical, created by StarKid Productions, parodies the classic video game, following a dysfunctional family’s journey west with audience participation determining their fate, including who dies from dysentery.

Artistic Director Eric Seale has assembled a talented cast to bring this unique show to life. There’s Justin Thomas as Father, Kendall Comolli as Mother, Sidney Chambliss as Son, Laura Parker as Daughter, Abigail Taylor as Grandpa & Cletus Jones, and Justin Wilson as McDoon & Everyone Else.

This hilarious, semi-historical reenactment is made possible through generous financial support from the Estate of Paul Sapp.

Performances of The Trail to Oregon will be held Fridays and Saturdays, March 6 to 21 at 7:30 p.m., Sundays, March 8 and 15 at 2:30 p.m., and Thursday, March 19 at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $18 for adults and $12 for youth and students. The production contains adult language and content, and is suitable for ages 18 and up. Tickets are available at hickorytheatre.org or by calling 828-328-2283.
