Hickory – Benjamin Thomas, guest director at the Hickory Community Theatre has just announced the casting for the Theatre’s upcoming production of Sylvia, a comedy by A.R. Gurney. It’s the story of an adorable stray dog that causes trouble between the man who adopts her and his wife, who is reluctant to have Sylvia in the house. In the play, the role of Sylvia is played by a beautiful woman.
Elisabeth Bokhoven plays the troublesome but engaging canine, Bob Smith plays Greg, Sylvia’s rescuer and Jane Lucas plays his reluctant wife Kate. Joshua Yoder, last season’s Hamlet, plays a trio of other characters including Kate’s female best friend.
Sylvia is on stage in the Theatre’s cabaret space, the Firemen’s Kitchen November 2-19. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays (Nov 3, 4, 10, 11, 17 & 18) at 8:00pm, Thursdays (Nov 9 & 16) at 7:30pm and Sundays (Nov 12 & 19) at 2:30pm.
