Hickory – The Hickory Community Theatre is in the third stage of its nationwide search for a new Artistic Director, who will succeed Pamela Livingstone when she retires in June. The first prospective candidate will be in Hickory this weekend and there are three public events scheduled to introduce him to Hickory.
“The artistic director is a pivotal role in our organization,” said John Brinkley, HCT Board President. “So it’s important to us that we get input from our community about who we’re considering for the job.”
Eric Seale is the first candidate and will be in Hickory from Thursday, Jan. 16 through Sunday, Jan. 19. He’s a theatre professional from Springfield, KY with 15 years of artistic leadership experience in various aspects of live theatre. He has directed 38 full-length show and served as producer on 70 more, including five world premieres.
The first event is a “meet and greet” reception at the Ridgeview Branch Library, 706 1st St SW in Hickory, on Saturday, Jan. 18 at 10:30am. This event is hosted by the Friends of the Ridgeview Library.
On Sunday, Jan. 19, following the matinee performance of American Buffalo in the Firemen’s Kitchen at HCT, Seale will be leading a “TalkBack” discussion with the audience about the show. The play begins at 2:30 and the discussion will begin about 4:30pm. The “TalkBack” is open to anyone but those who would like to see the play beforehand will need a ticket. At 5:00pm on Sunday, following the “TalkBack” there will be a public reception for Seale at the Hickory Community Theatre for anyone who would like to attend. This event will also feature an award. The Guild@HCT is providing light hors d’oeuvres and non-alcoholic beverages. Wine and beer will be available for purchase.
