Newton – Join The Green Room Community Theatre in February for Love Letters by A.R. Gurney. This two-person show focuses on Andrew (played by Peter Bost) and Melissa (played by Stephanie Lindsay), both born to wealth and position. They are childhood friends whose lifelong correspondence begins with birthday party thank-you notes and summer camp postcards. Romantically attached, they continue to exchange letters through the boarding school and college years. Life goes on, and the two go in separate directions. Eventually, they do reconnect, but it is really too late for both of them. This fifty-year correspondence reveals how much they really meant, and gave to, each other over the years—physically apart, perhaps, but spiritually as close as only true lovers can be.
Love Letters is directed by David Townsend and produced by Resource Partners. Production dates are February 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23 at 7:30 pm and February 10, 17, 24 at 3:00 pm. The box office (828-464-6128) is open Wednesday – Friday from 10:00 am – 5:30 pm throughout the run of the show. Ticket prices are $18 for Adults, $16 for Seniors (age 60+), and $14 for Students (age 13+). The show is rated PG-13 and may not be suitable for children under 13 years old.
Love Letters will be performed in the smaller, more intimate Black Box Theatre located in the Old Post Office Playhouse with its entrance on West A Street. Many of the performances in the Black Box Theatre do sell out, so don’t wait to get your tickets.
