Hickory – Good nutrition is a key component to good health. On Tuesday, February 6th at 6:00 pm, Ann Simmons, Extension Agent for North Carolina State University Cooperative Extension, will present a workshop entitled Simple, Delicious, Satisfying: The Mediterranean Diet for Better Health at Patrick Beaver Memorial Library. The workshop will explain why adopting the Mediterranean diet can have a positive impact on your health.
The Mediterranean diet is not a typical “diet.” People have been eating the Mediterranean way for centuries. Unlike diets, the Mediterranean pattern of eating encourages the consumption of healthy, great-tasting, plant-based foods like fruits and vegetables, whole grains, nuts, oils and herbs. The program was developed by nutritionists and health professionals from North Carolina State University and the North Carolina Division of Public Health and includes seven simple steps that can help people adopt a healthier way of eating. More information can be found at the website: medinsteadofmeds.com.
The Simple, Delicious, Satisfying workshop is free and open to the public. No registration is required. For more information, please call 304-0500 ext. 7235. Patrick Beaver Memorial Library is located at 375 3rd Street NE on the SALT Block.
