Hickory-Newcomers of Catawba Valley will learn about several national and international trips available through the Road Scholar program at their monthly meeting on Wednesday, April 11.
Road Scholar, formerly Elder Hostel, offers more than 5,000 trips annually to all 50 states and 150 countries. Club members Louise Judd and Linda Monroe will talk about how the nonprofit program works and trips they have taken as Road Scholars. The adventure program for adults has been operating since 1975.
The public is invited and welcome to attend the presentation and meeting, which will be held in the former terminal building of the Hickory Regional Airport, located at 3101 9th Ave. Dr. NW. The meeting begins with a coffee and tea time at 10:30 a.m.
Newcomers of Catawba Valley is primarily a social organization that enables new and long-time residents of the region to meet, make friends and participate in a variety of activities, including support of area charities and service programs. The club is made up of men and women and does not limit how long a member may belong.
