Megalopolis – The creator of The Godfather films, Francis Ford Coppola, delivers what may be his swan song as a filmmaker. It’s a tale of the conflicts between those who want a utopian society and those who are in opposition. The decades-in-the-making film was a labor of love for its creator who bankrolled the entire budget.

New to Disc:

Warner Brothers:

The West Wing-The Complete Series-The seven seasons of the critically lauded television series makes the high definition leap in a new Blu Ray set it that is spread over 28 discs. There are multiple extras on the set as well that have been retained from the DVD releases.

 

Kino Lorber Studio Classics:

Burn, Witch, Burn (1962) Janet Blair and Peter Wyngard star in this tale of a college professor whose wife turns out to be a witch. This fright film was co-written by the legendary Richard Matheson. Extras include two commentaries and an interview.

First Love (1977) William Katt stars as a college student experiencing the film’s title when he begins an affair with a fellow student who’s also dating an older man simultaneously. Extras on the Blu-ray release include a new commentary with Katt.

Body and Soul (1947) John Garfield is an amateur boxer whose career takes off and then finds himself facing some difficult choices. Extras include a new commentary.

 

Paramount:

Paramount Scares Volume 2 (1981-2022) is a new collection of fright films debuting on the 4K format. Titles included are Orphan: First Kill, Friday the 13th Part 2, Breakdown and World War Z. The set includes a Fangoria magazine reproduction and stickers along with the bonus materials on the discs.

Memento Mori: The Jörg Buttgereit Collection (1987-1993)

Several films of underground German auteur, Jörg Buttgereit, have been collected in this new set. Films include Nekromantik, the director’s groundbreaking 1987 debut, 1990’s Der Todesking, the 1991 film, Buttgereit, Nekromantik 2 and 1993’s Schramm. Extras on the five-disc set include documentaries, interviews, short films and commentaries.
