Hickory – On Saturday, June 6th, people of all colors peacefully came together to demand justice for George Floyd, and to call for the end of police brutality.
Sharing calls to action to ensure the event would make a lasting effect to propel the community conversation about racial justice and reconciliation forward.
Over 500 people showed up to demonstrate in the heat for the planned event outside of Hickory City Hall. The demonstration was organized by local Hickory residents, Daria Jackson , Tyler Conley and Love is a Verb of Hickory, NC.
A second demonstration, for those who could not attend the first event, was held on Union Square in downtown Hickory later in the day.
