Newton, NC – The Dad’s Lair, a new support group for fathers, provides opportunities for fathers to find support, encouragement and camaraderie with other fathers experiencing common challenges. The group is open to all biological, legal, resident and non-resident dads.

The group meets the second Monday of every month from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the Hickory Church of Christ’s M25 Ministries building, located at 1206 Fairgrove Church Road in Hickory. The group is facilitated by David Shuping, a social work supervisor with Catawba County Social Services.

The goal of The Dad’s Lair is to support fathers in maintaining healthy, safe and engaged relationships with their children. In addition to connecting with other fathers, participants can learn ways to help meet their children’s physical, emotional, spiritual and academic needs. The group’s curriculum draws from nationwide evidence-based initiatives, such as Responsible Fatherhood, the National Fatherhood Initiative, and Fatherhood.gov.
