Trade Alley a new artist co-op gallery in Hickory is now open. The LLC for profit co-op is already at maximum capacity with 25 members and a space for one guest artist per month. Though the co-op sprang from a gathering of Uni4artists who met to discuss better ways to sell their work, it is an independent entity from Uni4artists.
One of the challenges local artists have faced is having a permanent location to display their artwork. The idea for the co-op was introduced at the meeting and a core group went quickly to work to put the plans in place for the gallery.
The new gallery, located at 25 2nd Street NW (next to Tasteful Beans), is presently open, and will participate in the Sept 21 art crawl. The official grand opening will be on Thursday, October 20th with a ribbon cutting planned for 4 pm. Work on display includes a range of two-dimensional artwork in a variety of mediums, along with jewelry, glass, pottery, furniture and more.
