Wood Finishing To Be Topic At Woodcrafters Club, 7/26Hickory – The Western Piedmont Woodcrafters Club’s Saturday, July 26th meeting will feature a wood finishing program by Richard Moore.  The meeting is at 9:30 A.M., at Klingspor’s Woodworking Shop, 856 21st St. Drive SE, Hickory.  Meetings are open to the public.

Through discussion and demonstration, Richard will cover various products and techniques used to beautify and protect wooden projects.  Richard is well qualified to cover the subject.  Starting at an early age, he has spent over fifty years doing woodworking at some level, as a professional and as a hobbyist.  His work has been featured in several publications and ads. He has worked as a lead carpenter for numerous crews framing houses, installing exterior and interior trim, constructing built-ins and cabinetry. Over the past thirty years, he has worked as lead installer, kitchen and bath designer, and operations manager for Marsh Kitchens, a manufacturer in High Point, North Carolina.  He enjoys sharing his expertise, teaching, leading woodworking workshops and demonstrating his skills at events with North Carolina woodworkers.net.

Members and visitors should also enjoy the show-and-tell portion of the program in which members and guests show and discuss their woodworking projects.  All will have an opportunity to offer comments and ask questions about items shown, and other topics.

The club consists of about 40 Hickory-area woodworkers of all skill levels, from hobbyist to professionals.

The club usually meets on the fourth Saturday of each month at the Klingspor’s Woodworking Shop in Hickory. The exceptions are our annual offsite picnic, the October Klingspor’s Woodworking Extravaganza, and a combined November/December meeting.
