Valdese, NC – Rock School Arts Foundation presents Jane Best, Hannah Hubbard, and Krista Skelton. Exhibitions open on Friday, January 16 and run through Friday, February 13, 2026 in the foundation’s galleries located inside the Old Rock School in Valdese, NC.
Artists’ Reception will be on Sunday, January 18 from 2-4pm.

Jane Best is an artist and photographer who lives in Western North Carolina. She has been drawing and painting for over 50 years and her favorite art subjects have always been homes, buildings, and landscapes. She is also an avid plein air painter and enjoys painting outdoors whenever she gets a chance.
Jane is a member of the Appalachian Pastel Society, Burke Arts Council, Rock School Arts Foundation, Wayside Plein Air Painters of Lake Norman, NC Plein Air Painters, and Piedmont Painters Group.
Even though she has been involved in art for many, many years, she still looks forward to every day that is a painting day.
Hannah Hubbard is a self-taught, multi-disciplinary artist whose work is rooted in careful observation and intuitive mark-making. Working primarily in pen and ink most recently, she explores contrast, texture, and detail to create pieces that feel both deliberate and expressive. Her drawings often balance precision with spontaneity, allowing small gestures and layered lines to build quiet complexity.
My work is driven by an interest in line as both structure and expression.
Classical watercolor painter, Krista Skelton, fell in love with the medium at Agnes Scott College. Drawing inspiration from Winslow Homer, John Singer Sargent, N.C. Wyeth, and Andrew Wyeth, Krista focuses on the natural beauty of creation with a special emphasis on color and light. She lives in Hickory with her husband, Dane.
