Hickory – Arts Culture Catawba has spring grants available for nonprofit organizations, artists, and students at www.artscatawba.org/grants.
Innovative Artist Project grants are for individual artists or artist groups planning projects that benefit the citizens of Catawba County. Applications are due by March 19th and all applicants are required to appear for a brief presentation before the selection panel on April 8th.
The Edna Bost Barringer Young Artist Award is for students age 21 years old and under who plan to continue studies in the arts. The competition alternates annually between performing artists and visual/literary artists. This year’s competition will be for performing artists. Applications are due by March 19th and applicants are required to appear for an in-person audition on April 11th, where they will be evaluated by guest faculty from the UNC School of the Arts.
For the first time, we are opening the UAF Allocations Grant program to allow any eligible organization to apply to become a member of the United Arts Fund Alliance and receive general operating support from our United Arts Fund campaign. Full guidelines will be posted by the end of January, but interested organizations may submit an eligibility form by February 6th to see if they qualify. Verified eligible applicants will be invited to complete a full application. Current members of the alliance do not need to complete an eligibility form and will automatically be invited to complete a full application. Full applications will be due by March 19th and final applicants will be required to appear for an interview with the selection panel on April 13th.
Projects Pool grants are for nonprofit organizations planning new or impactful cultural projects that will take place in Catawba County. Funds must be matched dollar for dollar by the applicant. Returning applicants, please note that the timeline for this program has shifted later this year towards the summer. Applications open on March 9th and will be due by May 14th. Applicants must appear before a grant panel on June 4th.
The Projects Pool Grant program is funded through the North Carolina Arts Council’s Grassroots Arts Program and locally through Catawba County, City of Hickory, City of Conover, City of Newton, City of Claremont, Town of Catawba, and Town of Maiden. Innovative Artist Project grants are made possible by funds raised during a silent art auction held each year as part of the Jingle Bell Bash, an annual fundraising event for Arts Culture Catawba.
