NOW IN THEATERS
The Bride – Maggie Gyllenhaal steps behind the camera for her second feature, a remake of The Bride of Frankenstein but told from the point of view of the ghost of author Mary Shelley (!). Oscar nominee Jesse Buckley is a gangster’s moll who is stitched back together after being gunned down in 1936 Chicago and then fashioned as a bride for the 100-year-old Frank (Christian Bale). Annette Bening turns up as the doctor who brings The Bride to life and Penelope Cruz and Peter Sarsgaard are also along for the shenanigans.
