Hickory – The Catawba Science Center is excited to announce the return of our DINOSAURS! exhibition, an immersive experience featuring 16 life like animatronic dinosaurs, a vast array of real and replicated fossils, and a cutting-edge virtual reality attraction. Designed for visitors of all ages, the exhibit brings the prehistoric world to life through science, play, and technology. Guests can have an up-close encounter with the dinosaurs as they move, blink, and roar! Children will enjoy uncovering fossils and examining sedimentary layers in a hands-on dig pit that highlights how paleontologists study the Earth’s ancient past.

A standout feature of the exhibit is its exclusive virtual reality experience titled “Dinosaurs Evolution.”  This advanced motion-based VR technology exhibit called Immersive Voyager transports visitors into a realistic dinosaur environment, offering an unforgettable, immersive journey millions of years into the past. This attraction is the only experience of its kind in North Carolina, making Catawba Science Center a premier destination for dinosaur enthusiasts and families alike.

DINOSAURS! will open to the public on Feb 8th and will run through December 6th. CSC members get exclusive access to the exhibition on Saturday, Feb 7th, 2026. Entrance to DINOSAURS! is included with CSC admission $14 for children ages 3-17 and $16 for adults. CSC members get in free. The Immersive Voyager’s Dinosaur Evolution VR experience is an add-on cost of $5 for CSC members and $7 for non-members and available on a first come first served basis.
