Erin Hooks

Hickory – Erin joins the team at the SALT Block Foundation as Executive Director with extensive experience in community engagement, education, fundraising, and management.  She is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies and English, and has a Master of Business Administration in Non-Profit Management from Lenoir-Rhyne University.

A former Air Force Officer, she moved to Hickory in 2015 and has been active in the local arts community since her arrival.  She was a member of the Board of Directors of Hickory Community Theatre and now serves as a Board Emeriti. At the United Arts Council she served as a board member to include the position of Board President. She has sung with the Hickory Choral Society since 2015 and has volunteered at the Hickory Museum of Art as a member of the HMA Guild.

Prior to moving to Hickory, Erin and her family lived in Michigan where she worked in financial institution management, education, and sales. While serving in the United States Air Force, she served in various administrative and protocol positions supporting F-15 and F-16 fighter operations and command logistics in the United States and Republic of Korea.

After receiving her MBA from Lenoir-Rhyne University in 2019, she assumed the position of Director of Development at Humane Society of Catawba County, where she worked until accepting the position at the SALT Block Foundation.

Erin is married to Lt. Col. Robert Hooks (USAF Retired) and has a son, Major Christopher Hooks (US Army) and  a daughter, Colleen Hooks, who works for the American Red Cross.
