Hickory — Hartzell Memorial United Methodist Church is proud to announce the launch of the Hartzell Community Music Program, a new ministry initiative designed to help children and youth grow both musically and spiritually.

The Hartzell Community Music Program is a grant-funded program that aims to provide a welcoming and enriching environment where students, ages 8-17, can explore their musical interests while also building a strong foundation of faith, character, and confidence. Through a combination of music education and discipleship, the program seeks to positively impact the lives of young people in the surrounding community.

Sessions will be held one to two times per week at Hartzell Memorial United Methodist Church. This program will begin with a small cohort running from May 2026 to December 2026. Participants will begin by learning how to play the guitar, with plans to expand instruction to include piano, drums, and voice as the program grows in the upcoming years

Each session will include:

Hands-on guitar instruction

Practice time and group learning opportunities

Foundational music skills such as reading sheet music and understanding rhythm

Snacks, meals and fellowship

A short discipleship lesson focused on faith, encouragement, and personal development

“This program is about more than just music,” said Inandi Rhinehardt, Program Coordinator “It’s about creating a space where youth can be exposed to their gifts, build confidence, and grow in their faith”

The Hartzell Community Music Program is open to children and youth, ages 8-17 in the community.
