Hickory – The Hickory National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) will feature a few profiles in local Black History at its February meeting on Sunday, February 11 at 3:00 pm at Hartzell Memorial United Methodist Church. Three individuals will share impressive, but quite different profiles of their Hickory experiences.
This event will take place at 3 pm at Hartzell UMC Church, 465 South Center Street, Hickory. Through brief presentations, each presenter will share educational, career and other life experiences which have contributed to their becoming respected leaders in the community. While two were born and grew up in Hickory, moved away and returned, the other came to Hickory after retiring from a 30-year career in the US Army.
Although packed with interesting nuggets of Black history, the meeting will end by 4:00 pm so that those interested in the Super Bowl will not miss the game at 6:30 pm.
Monthly NAACP Branch meetings are open to the public. For additional information contact 828-322-6663 or [email protected].
