Newton, NC — Carolina Caring invites new and interested individuals to a free Hospice Volunteer Training Session on Saturday, February 21st, 9:00am-2:00pm. The training takes place at the Carolina Caring office on 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC.
If you are unable to attend on that date, contact Carolina Caring’s Volunteer Department, and they will arrange another training session for you.
Volunteers are integral to the hospice team, but they do not provide any hands-on care.
Volunteer Greeters serve at Carolina Caring Hospice Houses to welcome guests into the facilities, help guests locate patient rooms, and offer support as their loved ones are being cared for. Patient Support Volunteers provide companionship and comfort to patients facing serious illness and the end-of-life journey. They visit patients in their homes, assisted living centers, or wherever the patients may live.
“Volunteering has been such a humbling and rewarding experience,” says Yvonne Osborne, who has served at Carolina Caring for over 20 years. “I enjoy working at the reception desk, welcoming guests and visiting patients. It allows me to give back during such a fragile time in our patients’ lives.”
All volunteer opportunities offer flexible schedules and the endless reward of bringing joy and friendship to others in their time of greatest need. To register for the training on February 21st, contact the Carolina Caring Volunteer Department at 828.466.0466 ext. 2141 or email volunteer@carolinacaring.org.
