Newton – Throughout February, the Catawba County Library will be hosting special presentations of Sleeping Beauty, performed by Hickory Ballet and Performing Arts students.
This adaptation of the popular 19th-century ballet by Tchaikovsky is designed to teach elements of storytelling through dance and movement. The interactive performances feature different troupes of dancers and are perfect for all ages and for families. Children will be drawn into the experience and get a firsthand feel for how a ballet (and a story) comes together.
Fans of the well-loved Disney movie of the same name will be sure to recognize familiar characters in the ballet, along with Tchaikovsky’s music, and little ones will enjoy seeing Princess Aurora come to life in full costume.
The Hickory Ballet performances are generously presented by the Friends of the Library.
